does anybody have desktop publishing experience for brochures, poster, booklets ?

on a semi regular basis we need to make some printed material for various courses and events at Jamchen, such as brochures, leaflets, posters.

for anybody without experience in using modern desktop publishing software programs this proces can be a lengthy with a steep learning curve at each simple step

for ex, how to keep text centered and spaced correctly, type of fonts to use and font sizes, how to add a simple logo in a specific position on the page, how to add a border around the text to make sections stand out more, how to make a box of text in one section of the page, etc..

can anybody with experience in the field maybe make (or help us locate) a few templates for this we can use, eg single A4/A5 size poster with a border around the edge of the page (and how to make this border with a simple design etc..),  and with an A4 landscape page use 2 sided printing which then gets folded into 3 to make a compact brochure, etc..

some programs are fairly intuitive to use, like ms-publisher, but they dont use vector graphics and work done in them cant be imported into Adobe type programs (which uses vector gfx). in both of those types of programs it is also not straight forward to quickly create an A4 size version of something you have just created in A5, or vica versa.

there is no immediate urgency for a current project, but having some templates and basic knowhow on these various methods of creating documents would be helpfull.

whomever then coordinates a small seminar can then write the information the brochure/poster needs to contain (which is a lengthy process in itself), but will then be helped with these templates in the desktop publishing part to correctly present the information in whatever main format needed  (poster of different size, a 2 or 3 page brochure, a folded brochure, a multi page A5 booklet used for meditation texts and practises, etc..).
