A "2nd Saturday" Dharma Teaching with Zimwock Rinpoche
Topic: Transforming the 3 poisons into the 3 kaya’s
Saturday 12th September 2011: from 9.00 am to 10.00 am

Illustration: Depicting The Wheel of Life, featuring a pig, snake and bird representing ignorance, anger and desire
The destructive emotions of anger (hatred), selfish desire (greed), and ignorance ( delusion) are in Buddhism referred to as the 3 poisons. Understanding and recognising these three poisons and knowing the 3 doors through which they manifest, then allows us to transform these poisons by skillfully applying the three methods.
Knowing how to correctly apply these 3 methods allows us to recover our spiritual health and recognize our own inbuilt joyful nature, which inherently manifests as the supreme Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya.

Cost : Suggested donation $15, members $1021 Taras Empowerment
VAJRA YANA TEACHINGS
Saturday 6 August 2011, 9.30am – 5pm. Offered by His Eminence Zimwock Rinpoche
Tara, the female deity associated with compassion and enlightened activity, is the female Buddha of "wisdom in action". She is the compassionate protector who empowers. Tara unites hand and heart, and pierces the veil of ignorance and disturbed emotions. She swiftly comes at the calling of her name in times of danger and delusion.
She manifests into 21 Taras (or aspects) embodying such qualities as wisdom, compassion and strength. Her qualities include transforming fears, removing obstacles, curing disease, bestowing wealth, and dissolving ignorance. Tara has 21 different emanations, as are described in the practice of “Praises to the Twenty-one forms of Tara”.
Rinpoche will be bestowing the 21 Tara Initiation in the morning, and in the afternoon will give the teachings on this deity and the sadhana practice of Tara’s 21 manifestations.
Having previously taken Buddhist Refuge is the only prerequisite for this initiation. For those who might require it, HE Zimwock Rinpoche will offer a traditional Buddhist Refuge Ceremony prior to the initiation (for those who request it in advance).

A "Second Saturday" teaching: Mala & Mantra
Saturday 13 Aug.2011: 9.00 am to 10.00 am
A teaching on the Correct use and understanding of Mala and Mantra in Tibetan Buddhism
1. Three actions, different Malas
2. When to use?
3. How to use?
Each of the 108 individual beads of the mala represent the names of the Buddha. Therefore Vajrayana practitioners always respects their Mala as a hight object and keep it attached to one’s body at all time (for the mindfulness of Samaya, Mantra, Mudra, and Meditation). With careful practices based on these three MMM's, we can tame the outer fears like elephants, and inner fears like demons.
On a further level, applying MMM grows the seed of Buddhahood, and he/she will be guided and protected by the superior beings. Many Great Gurus do short grants, divinations, blessings, or purifications by using the Mala. The Mala can be seen as a Phurpa (kilaya) that symbolizes the Deity’s body, speech, and mind. Saturday 14 May (9.00 AM): The monthly "2nd Saturday Dharma teaching"
Buddha called this the "know what" language to send a direct msg to our inner most Mind to correct our intention and allow further development. Intended to profound ("pro-found"*) the basic instincts, it is logical and easy do, yet a nuisance like the Cat in the sack. Grasp the potential by choosing one or all of these concepts, and precious moments on the gradual path will help depart the shadow of clinging and allow us to embark into the flight of light.
The 4 Contemplations are:
1 This Precious Human Birth.
2 Impermanence .
3 Karma and
4 Samsara.
*Note: 1. The word profound (pro-found) defines the favor of being in a state of what we have found. ( pro-Dharma like pro-Manchester). 2. pro-found links to "pre-finding". It has clear meaning of discovering something before hand, and to face the outcome that then opens the gateway to the kingdom of teachings. 3. It gives the idea of preciousness of Dharma being so profound.
This all is about basic instinct and our nature in real Dharma, which is Dharma Dhatu the fertile ground discovery.

Most of the Sutras were named after the person who has questioned to the Buddha" thus the Sutras or teachings are in utmost suitability or perfectly matching to the being's propensities, attidutes etc.. That is what we talk about a total of 84.000 (eighty four thousand) types of Lord Shakya Muni Buddha's teachings and of course lot more. Here not in that sense but this current public teaching is specifically aimed at helping to resolve personal questions and any confusion students might have in the practical application of Buddhist teachings in their daily lives, and to help determine if the practices they are doing are appropriate for them. The aim is to make their personal practices more relevant and effective, and determine if these practices and applications of dharma teachings are producing the expected outcome.............by ZimwockR.
More experienced practitioners who would like to share their experiences are invited by Rinpoche to participate in the discussion during the 2e half of this teaching
When we start applying Buddhist teachings into our daily lives, this often initially starts raising many practical questions, such as: are we effective in applying the Buddhist practices we have been taught ? is our well intentioned bodhichitta approach really effective ? And, are the meditation practices we are doing giving the results we initially expected ?
As an example, the correct application of Bodhichitta is one of THE most important “survival kits” to take on our spiritual journey, but it is important to learn to apply it correctly for it to be effective. Doing so will significantly helps to lighten the load on our journey, and it will magnify the positive effect we have on others around us. Similarly, for individual students on a particular path of learning, it is essential to have the right type and combination of practices in order to make effective progress. When misunderstood or incorrectly applied, some Buddhist principles or practices could lead to the equivalent experience of eating a junk food meal when you are hungry, it will make you feel unwell, tired, and will drain your energy instead of revitalizing you. In human existence these type of errors could lead to an increased ego and a more limited and dulled life experience. To deal with these important issues Zimwock Rinpoche will focus the initial part of his April “second Saturday” teaching on this important subject, and help us identify incorrect assumptions we might have become locked into about Tibetan Buddhism.
In the 2e part of this teaching session Rinpoche will address some of the personal questions prepared by students on this same topic, to help them resolve any personal doubts and confusion they might have in the practices they are doing. The aim is to make their practices more relevant and effective. The questions can include diverse topics such as Meditation, Calm Abiding, applying Bodhichitta, Mahamudra or Ngondro practices, or certain specific Sakya Sadhana practices. More general question about Buddhism are also welcome from those that are starting on their Journey.
Practicing and applying Buddhist teachings in our lives should be like “hitting the target”, where we initially set our goal, choose the right arrow, and then pull back the bow and releasing the arrow to strike the target we aimed for.
All welcome!

5th Annual March 4 day Calm Abiding Meditation Retreat at SIBA in Buchan, VIC.
from 6 p.m. Thursday 10th March to 2 p.m. Monday 14th March 2011
This retreat is very popular, and has become an annual calendar event for many.
Take time away from your daily routine, in a beautiful rural setting to either learn to meditate or for those with experience in meditation to strengthen and deepen meditation practice. Calm Abiding meditation is a simple yet profound technique for increasing clarity of mind and the stability of attention. This trains the meditator to rest their attention on a meditation object such as the breath. By cultivating an increased ability to remain in the present moment and by recognising habituated patterns of thinking that distract us from the present moment, meditators experience increased levels of happiness, balance and well-being.Bookings essential – To register online click here http://www.trybooking.com/KIK

Due to upcoming events in HE Zimwock Rinpoches overseas teaching commitments, there will be some short term changes in some of the Jamchen's scheduled weekly events (this affects only those that are normally conducted by Rinpoche himself).
During late August Rinpoche will be providing Vajrayogini teaching in Singapore, and during that same teaching cycle he will also confer the initiation of the great female bodhisattva Sarasvati (Lhamo Yangchenma), and the initiation of the "Lords of the Three Families" (the three bodhisattvas Avalokiteshvara, Manjushri and Vajrapani).
Preparation for the Mahakala Initiation
Rinpoche encourages his students and those intending to receive the Mahakala initiation to attend the Elaborate Empowerment of the Karling Shyitro offered by Khenchen Pema Sherab in September 2010. HE Zimwock Rinpoche will also be attending this empowerment. Khenchen Pema Sherab is one of the highest and most senior khenpo's in the Nyingma tradition. He has been one of the closest disciples of HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and was personally identified by him at a very young age.
This empowerment along with those of Hevajra, Kalachakra, Yamantaka, Hayagriva, Vajra Kilaya, and Padmasambhava is a prerequisite for those intending to receive the Mahakala initiation later this year. HEZR advises for his students that “Mindfulness is the practice and the commitment”, and that this type of initiation is the gateway to liberation.
